Kardashian: The Man Who Saved O.J Simpson

This documentary is about Robert Kardashian’s role in the verdict of the O.J Simpson trial. Robert and OJ had been close friends for years before the trial, and Robert was at his house the day after the murders. The documentary talks about how a video showed Robert take a Louis Vuitton bag from O.J’s secretary and whisper with her and then leave. The video was taken by someone at the scene and he didn’t notice what Robert was doing until four weeks later. Robert then became one of O.J’s lawyers, so everything he knew fell under attorney client confidentiality so he could’ve be questioned. What was in the bag could have been important evidence but no one ever figured out what was in it. In the documentary, when O.J was found not guilty Roberts face seemed upset and confused, rather than excited. This led many people to believe that O.J might have been guilty and Robert was doing all of this just to help his friend out, but since Robert has passed away, we will never know.

Since this documentary is based off something that happened a while ago, most of the footage they use is very old. Most of the clips are from news from the time and videos of the courtroom. There were also several interviews with people who were involved in the case reflecting back to their experiences. They never showed the man who was doing the voice over the whole video. They also used a lot of photos from the trial, and to make it more interesting, they had people who were being interviewed as well as the voice over speak while showing the pictures, and they always zoomed in a lot on all the pictures to point out an important detail. In the interviews, I noticed them using the rule of thirds, and obviously professional lighting. Every time they went back to an interview, the person's name was shown at the bottom of the screen so that the viewer always knew who was speaking. They also would show quotes on the screen while someone was saying them if they were important. A detail in the documentary that I found really cool was that a guy by the name of Joe videotaped Kardashian almost everyday of the trial, and was at the house the day after the crime, hated by all the news people, later became the person to first film Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s.

I would definitely recommend this documentary to someone. I love watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians so I’ve heard of the OJ Simpson case from that and just in life I've heard people talk about it. But since it happened before I was born, all I ever knew about it was that OJ was convicted of murdering his wife and he was proven not guilty, but there were a lot of people who disagreed. I learned that not only was his wife killed, but another man. I had never heard about the Louis Vuitton bag, which is what the documentary mainly focused on. I knew that Robert was O.J’s friend and lawyer, but that’s not even close to the whole story. The video quality of this documentary is not necessarily great, because it is a little older, but it is extremely interesting and I never found myself bored.
