Being the interviewer and editing:
It was difficult to come up with good questions to ask him, and try to
phrase them in a way that he would remember to answer with the
question stem. Editing a interview is very different then editing
something like a plushie. I had to turn one 4 minute video into like 20
littles videos, and make sure I was only using Jackson talking. Also
learning how to put B roll in took some practice.
Being interviewed:

Watching Cesley’s video of me I realized that when I was answering her
questions, I sounded very monotone. It was really hard at first to
remember to answer the question with the question stem, and I forgot
to a few times. It was also hard to try to sit still and not look around all
over the place. The light right on my face also took some getting used
to.
Filming:

When I was filming my first interview, I watched someone else set up
the camera, tripod, light, and microphone because I had never seen it
been done before. Once it was all set up and turned on, I played
around with the brightness and color of the light, and the angle it was
at to make Celsey look best on the camera. I also kept in mind the rule
of thirds when framing her and telling her which way to look.
Being the interviewer and editing(part 2):
For my second interview, I interviewed Oscar…3 times. The first time it went really well, until we went to stop recording and we noticed that the camera screen read ‘SD card full’, even though the only thing on it was the first 30 seconds of the interview. So we asked for help and got a new SD card, and filmed it again. This time, we had forgotten that someone shut the microphone off while we were putting the new card in, so our second interview had no sound. Finally on the third try we got it and Oscar had his answers all ready. I was hoping to try to use videos of him snowboarding as B roll but he didn’t have any he could send me during class. It took me a lot less time to edit it this time because I had just done it last week. It’s all done except for adding the rest of the B roll.
Being interviewed(part 2):
My second time being interviewed I think went much better. Mary
asked me more personal questions that I was excited to talk about, like
traveling. I also was keeping in mind that I didn’t want to sound like I
did in my previous interview.
Filming(part 2):
When I was filming, I think I did a much better job getting the lighting to look really good. I knew to double check that the camera was recording and the microphone was on. Again, I kept the rule of birds in mind. There was an air vent in the room we used that was really loud so I had to stand on the table and cover it with a bag so it wouldn’t make so much noise. Every once and awhile, I glanced down at the camera to make sure it didn’t say ‘SD card full’ again.
